Anxiety and Panic Disorder
Everyone will experience anxiety sooner or later, it is the normal response to perceived threats. For some, however, the anxiety can become too much. Sometimes anxiety can become so great that is turns into a very disabling disorder.
People who suffer from anxiety or panic disorders feel like they lost all control over their lives. When they have an attack they think they will lose their mind or die. People who dont have this disorder may find it hard to imagine the absolute terror they go through when they have an attack. People who suffer from panic disorder are often not understood by their friends and family.
Studies suggest that anxiety and panic disorder may be linked to depression. When the anxiety becomes very great and continuous for a long period of time it is considered a form of depression. It can often be hard to tell the diffence between mild depression and anxiety disorders.
There are some techniques that can be used to deal with these disorders. Certain breathing and relaxation exercise may help for some. Biofeedback therapy, where people learn to become calm and focus on their body can also be useful. Ancient eastern exercise systems like Yoga or Tai Chi are also relaxing. When having an attack just breathing deeply can often help a person relax.
When dealing with anxiety and panic disorder it is important t learn to accept the attack. Do not try to fight it, this will only cause more stress and anxiety. Just let it happen and wait for it to pass. This is a very important first step in dealing with the disorder.
