Body Work Training
Find Body Work Training and Professional Massage Therapists in the United States and Canada. If you are drawn to the healing arts, perhaps body work training is right for you. More than just a health remedy; body work is a holistic concept and practice that has been developed over the centuries to help in healing through any one of several natural touch therapies.
As a general term for numerous massage modalities available today, body work training teaches a number of massage techniques including acupressure, deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, sports massage, craniosacral therapy, chair massage, and hand massage, among many others.
For example, body work training in acupressure teaches students how to apply deep, firm pressure to energy points (meridian points) along the Chi (life force passage). Candidates in these body work training programs learn how blockages (in the body) are released through gentle touch therapy. Students who have gained this body work training learn how to release pain, tension and emotions of the client.
Depending on the body work training in which you enroll, you can anticipate anywhere between 300 and 500 training hours. Typically, body work training involves studies in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and CPR and first aid. Education in the history of massage therapy, massage theory, and various healing modalities are generally a standard part of the curriculum.
Students participating in body work training also learn the basic principles of business, marketing and other entrepreneurial skills. Successful graduates who have attained comprehensive body work training can go onto earning local or National certification* to begin practicing as qualified massage therapists. (*Students completing a minimum of 500 hours body work training are eligible for the National certification exam.)
If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding body work training, let professional education within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.
