Diamond Wedding Rings

Diamond wedding rings really do add that extra amount of glamour to the most important rings a lady will wear. When choosing a wedding ring, it is also a wonderful opportunity to carry through the diamond theme from the engagement ring to the wedding ring. This should be done whilst considering certain aspects. By doing this, the rings will go together as a pair and will stand more of a chance of looking like a set.

Firstly we have the metal. Consider the metal from which the engagement ring is made. All diamond wedding rings will be made from a specific metal, whether it be 18ct white gold, yellow gold or platinum. By matching this to the metal from which the engagement ring has been made, there is a greater chance of continuity between the two rings.

Secondly, consider the profile. By this we refer to the cross section of the ring. This might be a court profile (curved on the inside and on the outside) or possibly D-shaped. All diamond wedding ringswill vary in their profile. The flat topped court which is flat on the outside and curved on the inside, is one of the most popular styles for setting diamonds into it. A suitable thickness is also needed to accommodate the depth of the diamonds.

Next, consider the cut of diamonds that are in the engagement ring. Are they round brilliant cuts or square princess cuts? By staying with the same diamond cut, it is possible to carry the theme through to the wedding ring. For example, an engagement ring with a single princess cut diamond might look best alongside a wedding ring with a series of small princess cuts set within it. Provided the diamonds are of a similar colour, there should be no reason why a suitable match cannot be found.

As for the other aspects of diamond wedding rings, these are all a matter of personal taste and budget. The number of diamonds and actual design of the ring are matters which are for the individual to decide upon.

On a final note, it must be mentioned that many engagement rings will not allow diamond wedding rings to sit neatly alongside due to the setting of the engagement ring. In these cases, it is possible to buy either shaped wedding rings, or to have one custom made to fit against the engagement ring. This usually involves producing a wax model of the wedding ring first that will fit perfectly. This is then cast in the metal of choice, before setting the diamonds into it. This method allows a perfect fit and will not always be as costly as you would imagine.
