Some of the most common symptoms of anxiety attacks include:
Dizziness
Chest pain
Fear of losing control
A feeling of impending doom
Feeling as if you are out of touch
Heart palpitations
Feeling as if you are about to die
Trembling
Sweating
Hot or cold flashes
Nausea
Diarrhea
Numbness
Tingling in the hands or feet
Feeling as if you cant breathe
The frequency of anxiety attacks can also vary. Its quite possible to experience an anxiety attack and never experience another again. In some cases; however, the individual may experience the symptoms associated with anxiety attacks several times per month. Anxiety attacks can also be spaced several months apart. One of the most difficult aspects of anxiety attacks to deal with is the fact that most frequently, these symptoms appear with no warning and for no apparent reason.
Some individuals may become so afraid of having an anxiety attack, especially in certain places, that they begin to avoid those areas. At its worst, anxiety attacks can result in a fear of being out in public or of being in crowds. This disorder is known as agoraphobia.
While the symptoms of an anxiety attack can certainly feel as though they are life-threatening, in reality they are not. If you believe that you may have an anxiety disorder it is important to understand that you will not die from the attack. It is also important to understand that techniques can be used to decrease both the frequency and severity of your panic attacks.
One of the most important steps in learning to deal with the symptoms of panic attacks is to accept them and learn how to stop them in their tracks. Taking the time to learn about anxiety attack symptoms can help you to begin the first step toward overcoming anxiety disorder.
