Eczema Skin Symptoms: An Overview

Published at 11:23 am under Natural Skin Care

If you have just noticed the first signs of bad skin on yourself or on your children, then you would be probably suspecting if what you see are eczema skin symptoms.

What exactly are they? Eczema skin symptoms are most often described to be itchy, red, dry and irritated skin. If you are having moderate to severe eczema skin symptoms, your skin will also be raw and inflamed to the extent of being crusty, scaly and bleeding with all that scratching. With exceptionally dry skin, you are more prone to itching. Unfortunately the more you scratch, the more you will introduce bacteria through your broken skin. This results in patches of skin oozing with clear fluid and blood oozing from your broken skin.

Eczema is a skin disorder that can affect a baby right up to someone elderly. It is non contagious. Some say that it is a condition that is hereditary. So if your parents have eczema, you are more likely to have this disorder.

Atopic eczema is the most common type of eczema . It inflicts about one out of every eight or nine children. Although the figures look alarming, the good news is that about three quarters of the young kids who develop eczema skin symptoms outgrow their condition before their teens.

Most of these children also develop other allergy related disorders such as food allergies, allergy to dust, asthma or hay fever. These children will also suffer from dry skins for the rest of their lives. Children usually develop eczema skin symptoms on their faces and also on their hands and legs. In many of these cases, the first signs of improvement usually show on their faces before being seen in other parts of their body.

Another type of eczema is known as varicose eczema. Eczema skin symptoms in this category usually start when you are in your thirties. Varicose eczema is often attributed to the poor blood circulation on your legs. For this condition, eczema skin symptoms are in your ankles with a speckled look that is also sore and itchy.

There is no known cure for eczema currently. To treat eczema skin symptoms, doctors will usually recommend steroid creams and/or special emollients and/or or antibiotics for bacteria infection (if you have one) as well as anti-histamines (drugs to prevent itching).
