Get Rid of Anxiety Away with Panic and Forever
Anxiety in general is a fear or apprehension about anything. It can include being anxious about how you will do in the upcoming interview or at tonights date. These do not constitute the psychological disorder called Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The clinical definition of general anxiety disorder includes a pattern of behaviors and physical symptoms which may accompany the condition. A major component of anxiety and the condition called general anxiety disorder is stress.
Stress, worry and anxiety are common feelings in many peoples lives. What makes the difference between normal levels of stress and anxiety and a serious emotional disorder is the way in which an individual deals with the everyday stresses of life. Some triggers noted in the literature about generalized anxiety disorder include grief and depression.
Since almost all of us suffer grief and depression, anxiety and fear, what is it that causes some people to fall victim to generalized anxiety disorder, while others do not? The distinguishing factor is how one copes with the external stimulus which causes the anxiety or stress. Some people have never learned how to deal with stressful situations in their lives. Some people are physiologically incapable of dealing with daily anxiety and/or stress. Others who at one time could deal effectively with grief, depression, anxiety, and stress become overwhelmed at some point in their life.
An acceptable test to determine whether a person is coping with normal stress and anxiety is a determination of whether that person is capable of functioning in normal society. Determination is made by assessing whether the persons responses to various levels of stress are acceptable to the others in the milieu of the workplace or home, etc.
There is, of course, an implied judgment that the societal milieu is normal and exhibiting acceptable patterns of behavior.
In any case, if you are having feelings of anxiety or fear, and are having trouble coping with your surroundings, (people and/or physical environment) you may be suffering from general anxiety disorder. If you avoid all human contact, or experience physical symptoms such as tremors or chest pains, or shortness of breath as a reaction to stressful situations, you probably ought to consult a physician.
Your general practitioner or family practitioner is generally a very good first stop for any questions regarding your physical or mental health. In general, psychiatric practices prefer that you undergo some preliminary testing to rule out or correct physical disorders which may be influencing your psychological condition.
If you are suffering mild anxiety and some stress, but dont have continuing symptoms, and can function properly in your surroundings, (cultural and physical), your anxiety and stress may be normal, and nothing to worry about. You may want to change jobs or careers to put yourself into a less stressful environment. You may even want/need to change your living arrangements to lower your stress level.
If none of the changes you make as mentioned above, you should seek professional help. Many people seek counseling and recover fully from whatever was causing their inability to cope. Whether you are one of those or one of the others who need longer treatment or chemical stabilization, there is nothing to be ashamed of in your seeking help to continue your life and live it to the fullest.
