Published at 5:30 am under Fine Diamond Jewelry

Jewelry goes back a very long time and today they still remain the perfect finish to any look. You should never underestimate the power of jewelry which completes any fashion statement. So lets have a look from the past to present, and perhaps into the future.

There is jewelry for every occasion in your life so whether you are a night on the town, off to the board room, a casual outing, the office, a day at the beach, or your very own wedding theres a beautiful pair of earrings for you. You can be a sexy goddess, sophisticated women, a fashion diva, or ultra feminine.

From Britney Spears to Marilyn Monroe to Jamie Lee Curtis celebrities have always worn costume jewelry as well as fine jewelry. In fact today your jewelry is the fashion statement for both sexes.

You might be surprised to discover that jewelry actually dates all the way back to 2500 BC when only royalty and wealthy could afford to purchase jewelry. There was no costume jewelry back then only expensive fine jewelry.

There many different styles of jewelry which can be made from a variety of materials and metals and include past, Bakelite, faux diamonds, faux gems, glass stones, plastic, and other man made materials to name just a few. Its really about fashion statements. From 1559 way back King Tutankhamen wore ear plugs.

Then during the early 1800s gemstones were mounted on an open back claw setting which let the light pass through enhancing their color and brilliance with a magnificent effect.

By the end of WWI women were wearing short hair hairdos and earrings became popular again. The 1950s jewelry was light and aerodynamic and by the 1960s jewelry was innovative and plenty of fun. By the 1970s any anything goes style was popular.

Todays vintage costume jewelry comes in all kinds of different shapes and sizes. Men, women, and kids are all interested in jewelry and the styles change regularly. Now that you have the history of costume jewelry you can look to the future.
