Medication for Anxiety Panic Attack Symptoms - Deal or No Deal?
Most of us are all too familiar with anxiety and the many anxiety panic attack symptoms. And while we have found out that, anxiety attacks can happen to anyone, regardless of age or gender. For the most part, its little comfort knowing that anxiety attacks are a normal response to stress. Over the years, there have been a number of anxiety attack panic treatments advanced. While it sometimes appears difficult to sort out the best solution, there is one method that is preferred.
Anyone that has suffered anxiety panic attack symptoms will remember them vividly. Among the most common symptoms noted are:
\r Shortness of breath,
\r Palpitations or pounding heart,
\r Chest pain or discomfort, and
\r Dizziness and nausea.
While it may appear that the symptoms go on forever, according to the American Psychological Association, the anxiety panic attack symptoms typically only last about ten minutes.
One of the most frequent anxiety attack panic treatments is medication. There are several reasons noted for the popularity of medications as a treatment option. The primary reason for this treatment option is convenience. Since it is usually in pill form, it is easy to just pop one in your mouth. A variety of medications are freely available with as well as without a doctors prescription at most drug stores. Additionally most medications are fast acting. While the time needed for medications to become effective ranges from immediate to shortly thereafter, all typically begin working within 5 minutes. Depending on the exact medication used, they can be quite effective since they tend to put you in a state of relaxation, thus keeping your anxiety somewhat in check.
But the use of medications as a cure for panic attacks is not without its side effects. One of the major issues is that medications can affect people in different ways and while it may provide some relief for most people, others may be worse off having taken it. Further, over time, the initial effectiveness of the medication may dissipate as our bodies get used to having them in our system. At this point, we start to develop a tolerance for them and as a result, there effectiveness is greatly reduced.
While medications may help with the outward signs of anxiety, it should be pointed out that they are just a temporary fix. And while medications may in fact, reduce the frequency and/or severity of panic attacks they do not eliminate them entirely. At best, medications serve to alleviate ones anxiety until a more permanent way to resolve them.
A much better, long-term solution to anxiety attack panic treatment needs to be used. For most people this better, long-term solution involves a natural cure for panic attacks. This treatment option is typically better suited given that they work by cutting off anxiety at the source, thus keeping the anxiety panic attack symptoms at bay.
