Find Programs in Massage in the United States and Canada. With the growing number of alternative and complementary medicine schools, educational programs in massage offer prospective students a unique perspective into an age-old healing art that has been used for centuries for health and in healing.

What some individuals do not realize is that programs in massage are not confined to just Swedish massage and deep tissue therapy; in fact, there are well over 50 different massage techniques in practice today. Because of the vast variety of programs in massage that are available today, it is essential to explore potential healing arts schools for the course that fits your independent career pursuit. For instance, if you like working with youth, there are massage therapy courses that offer standard training with an emphasis on sports massage and infant massage.

Other programs in massage are better designed to meet the needs of our senior population. These courses may emphasize geriatric massage, therapeutic massage, craniosacral therapy, chair massage, touch therapy, reflexology, cancer massage, and lymphatic drainage massage, among others.

Some programs in massage are specifically designed for animal treatment. Students enrolled in canine or equine massage classes discover various bodywork techniques like acupressure, meridian therapy and energy healing therapies that are beneficial to animals suffering from musculoskeletal issues like arthritis.

While there are infinite educational programs in massage from which to choose - each course varies in length, tuition and curricula. It is always wise to examine prospective schools to make an informed decision. Check the massage school for accreditation. Does it meet all State (or Province) requirements for certification and/or licensure? Does the massage school offer National certification programs? Continuing education? Generally, most programs in massage run between 300 and 500 hours, but may be longer depending on individual and advanced training options.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding programs in massage, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.
