Understanding Paid Surveys

The most common question about paid surveys is Can you really make money? Simply put, you can make a bit of extra money by doing paid surveys. However, sifting through the many scams that are overtaking the internet will be your main challenge.

Paid surveys are an important factor in companies understanding what they should develop, how they should develop it, and how the public feels about already released products. When they need feedback they will hire one of the survey companies, and you will normally need to do a short questionnaire to determine if you will be eligible for that survey. Qualifying for a survey may be dependent upon on one or many factors including your location, household income, and if you have bought the product recently.

Sometimes you are asked to review a commercial or an idea. Recently I completed a survey that required me to watch a whole episode of Law and Order, and then answer questions afterwards.

Legit survey companies that are hired by manufacturers and marketing companies will never charge you to partake in their surveys. The information you provide when completing these are invaluable, and they want your honest opinion. This is why they are offering to pay you not vice versa! Everyday it seems there is yet another new paid survey company that claim you will make x amount of dollars if you pay them first to get access to these resources. Do not pay for their membership. You can find free lists of these companies.

Please note that not all of the paid survey companies will pay you in cash. Many offer entries into a sweepstakes, or award you points that can be redeemed when you reach a certain amount of them. Often, gift certificates are given as well.

You are probably not going to become rich by doing paid surveys, and anyone who tells you this is lying to you. However, doing multiple ones each month can bring in a nice little chunk of change. You may also receive free products so you can evaluate them, get gift certificates, or win a sweepstakes.
